AeroLens Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 6, 2026
Overview
AeroLens is designed with your privacy in mind. We collect minimal data, process photos transiently, and store your scan history only on your device.
Photos & Camera
- Photos you scan are sent to our secure server for aircraft identification using AI. Photos are processed in real-time and are not stored on our servers after processing.
- Your scan history (including thumbnail images) is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it.
Location Data
- If you grant location permission, your approximate location is stored alongside each saved scan to show where you spotted each aircraft on a map.
- Location data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
- Location permission is optional. The app works fully without it.
Registration Databases
- Aircraft registration lookups (FAA, Mictronics) happen entirely offline using databases bundled within the app. No personal data is sent for these lookups.
Advertising
- The free version of AeroLens displays ads provided by Google AdMob.
- We request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission to allow personalized ads. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized.
- Pro subscribers see no ads.
Analytics
- We use TelemetryDeck for privacy-first analytics. TelemetryDeck does not collect personal identifiers and is fully GDPR compliant.
Third-Party Services
Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email, or any account information.
- We do not store your photos on our servers.
- We do not sell any data to third parties.
- We do not track your location in the background.
Children's Privacy
AeroLens does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
